Getting Moving at 40+

GP’s and specialists like orthopaedic surgeons and cardiologists can sometimes make you aware of risk factors that you can modify through exercise, but you may not be sure of the best way to start. We understand that and have seen it plenty of times and that’s why, with our integrated team, we can help you set up the long-term health strategy that first gets you moving safely and then gets you excited about exercising long term. Life can be very busy with a strong focus on career and/or family from our 20’s into our 30’s. By the time we get into our 40’s and 60’s we often see a need or desire to begin looking after our own health. A multitude of options exists which can become confusing or even frustrating. We know that a long-term solution for you will come from finding out what you’re passionate about and what may interest you long term, even if this interest continually changes from running to cycling, gym going to yoga or even swimming to hiking tall mountains. At Healthfix, we look to find out what your health goals are so that we can lead you down a path that you can stick on without needing to stay in constant contact with us. We set you up with the best start and give you the right base of fitness, strength, flexibility and or mobility to achieve your goals. During this process, the modifiable risk factors for preventable diseases such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, recurrent spinal pain or mental health complaints can be identified, addresses and solved. Great ways to get started –
  • Initial consult with an Exercise Physiologist to receive a movement screen and assessment of your risk for a cardiometabolic disease.
  • Initial consult with a Physiotherapist to perform an injury screen, including an assessment of your injury history, to ensure you’re safe to exercise.
  • An Introfix to kick-start your healthy diet and exercise habits with our dietitian personal trainer, or exercise physiologist.

Young Performer

Whether you’re finishing your studies or starting out on your promising career in the workforce or with your sports team, you want a body that you can rely on now and that won’t break down in the future. Not only does our integrated team of health professionals know what a young performing body needs, we know how to implement the changes you need in a way that works for you. Teenager to 20-year-old bodies can still be undergoing changes and so you need an adaptive approach that can set up the essential movements patterns and core level of strength to achieve your short term and long term physical and performance needs. Not feeling at your best is never fun at any time but it can be really frustrating when you need to perform for your exams, a deadline or on the sports field. To put yourself in the best position for success you need to be setting the right foundations. For elite sportspeople, exercise science has progressed to a point where professional sports teams start this process at such a young age. If you’re still looking to compete at the highest level then engaging with a high-performance team like at Healthfix would be a great first step. Great ways to get started –
  • 8-week strength program to set the right movement patterns and strength in the core functional movements.
  • An Introfix to kick-start your healthy diet and exercise habits with our dietitian, personal trainer, or exercise physiologist.
  • Initial consult with a Physiotherapist to perform an injury screen, including an assessment of your injury history, to ensure you’re starting exercise at the right level for you.

If being a healthy office worker appeals to you then this will come down to you. At Healthfix we have the full team that you need, who understand your work demands and give you the tools to offset your static or dynamic work demands so that you’re happy and healthy at work and at play.
