Postnatal Pilates

Our Women’s Health Team have specially designed a pilates class for new mothers to get back into exercise postpartum in a safe, supported and exciting way. Our classes will reignite your passion for exercise and improve your overall strength, mobility and endurance to support you throughout motherhood.

  Our postnatal pilates classes are designed to improve mums’ overall strength, mobility and endurance to meet the increased physical demands of looking after a newborn baby. Our Pilates instructors have worked with our team of Women’s Health Physiotherapists to design a class that specifically targets pelvic floor muscles, deep abdominal muscles while building postural strength. All muscles that our physios recommend focusing on after pregnancy! We create an inclusive and supportive environment for mothers to restart their exercise regime in a safe and health professional recommended way. You can join postnatal pilates from when you are 6 weeks postpartum.

How mums benefit from Postnatal Pilates:

It is important to focus on thoracic mobility and posterior chain strengthening as carrying, feeding and picking up babies commonly causes lower back and neck pain. By improving strength and range in your back, you can help avoid these niggles and be the active mum you want to be! Pilates also supports rebuilding your pelvic floor awareness and deep abdominal strength in a slow and safe manner to avoid any complications that pregnancy and delivery can cause on these muscles. Finally, Mums are superwomen! They need to be strong all over as babies can double their birth weight in 5 months and get you moving in ways you probably haven’t done in a while. Postnatal pilates focuses on rebuilding a baseline strength in your pelvic floor muscles, arms, legs, hips and more! Pilates is the perfect way to keep up with the physical demands of motherhood and get your body back into the pre-pregnancy exercise regime that you love.  
We host our Postnatal Pilates classes on Wednesdays at 12PM. We like to remove any and all barriers so that you can prioritise your workout. To do this, we run our classes live on zoom! That way you can fit in your workout while your baby is sleeping or playing next to you. Are you interested in classes but this time doesn’t work? To ensure you’re getting a safe and effective workout, our Women’s Health Physiotherapist, Samah Elomari and Lead Pilates Instructor, Amy Yeoland collaborating on teaching and programming these classes. They utilise their extensive knowledge in pilates, sports science and pelvic floor exercise to give you the best possible workout.
To get started in Postnatal Pilates, we offer everyone a free trial class! After this we offer a variety options to join postnatal pilates on a regular basis. Casual classes cost $35/class, but we have packages where you can purchase classes in bulk for a cheaper rate and even an all inclusive membership option, which gives you access to our integrated team, gym facilities and other group classes.
